Life Story Network
We use life stories to improve care and housing outcomes.
The key services we provide are:
Life Story Work - Working with people with dementia to develop and celebrate their life stories enabling them to connect and share their story with the people in their lives. We believe this processes is of equal value to the final story. We also use this approach to train frontline staff to see past the condition and connect with the person. We use life story work to improve care outcomes by training frontline staff in the value of its use and how they can incorporate it into their day to day interactions. https://www.lifestorynetwork.org.uk/pages/17-life-story-work
Beyond the Front Door / My Home Matters - These sessions empower people with dementia and their carers to consider the transitions in their lives and prepare for future transitions around home and what it means to them. We work to ensure people don`t play a passive role in their housing decisions and work with housing providers to support housing transitions in a more inclusive way. Through the workshops we celebrate what home has meant to them, what is important and how to plan and be confident with future housing decisions. https://www.lifestorynetwork.org.uk/pages/16-beyond-the-front-door
Knowing Me! - Knowing Me! Is a free online booklet to enable people to better identify and react to the three D`s - Dementia, Depression and Delirium which are all closely linked. https://www.lifestorynetwork.org.uk/pages/15-knowing-me This booklet was co-created by people with dementia and their carers with consideration to what they wish they knew from day one of diagnosis. We also provide group training and online training for professional staff around this resource.
Consultancy Support - We work with partner organisations to enable the voice of those they work with to have a say in their planning and operations. We have many years experience in enabling those less often heard to have a voice and say within our partners organisations.
