How can care homes further improve Security?

Care homes face a wide range of security risks and these need to be addressed effectively in order to maintain a safe and protected environment, not only for residents but equipment and staff alike. This, however, can be quite difficult to achieve without impacting the residents’ quality of life, as security measures need to provide the right level of protection whilst also taking into account privacy.

The Industry Report of Dementia Care & Nursing Homes found 73% of care home decision makers to be concerned over the security measures that are currently in place. The general consensus suggested that these particular concerns revolve mainly around risk of crimes, such as burglary, and fire hazards, amongst others.

89% of the respondents actually claimed that they’d be open to considering the products and services of a security supplier; given they are of higher quality compared to current measures used, and is offered at competitive rates.

Our report found that the standard of security systems has been poor in recent times, which has led to an increase of security breaches and accidents occurring in and around the care homes. Unfortunately, it’s been pointed out that there aren’t enough choices for decision makers to make a selection from, on the highest standard of security systems to be used in their care homes.
