CQC Inspector Hub at Dementia, Care & Nursing Home Expo

Josh Hopkins

Social Care is constantly changing to provide the most effective care to an ever-growing number of people. Understanding the ins and outs of your chosen sector is vital in enabling yourself to provide the best care you can, because everyone deserves person-centred care. Whether it be someone living with dementia, or a disabled young adult; every person deserves to have their own specially designed care.

Recently, Sajid Javid, the Chancellor of the Exchequer, has announced that £1.5 billion will be committed to the social care industry, a welcome, yet underwhelming figure from central government. Even with this funding, the social care industry will struggle.

There is widespread concern that the funding will only support the care industry for another year, and that, ironically, it is neither a long term, nor a stable plan.

The concerns spread further than business owners too, with Sally Warren, Director of Policy at The King’s Fund, commenting on the length of the plan: ‘’NHS England already benefits from a five-year financial settlement, but the decision not to commit to a longer-term settlement for the rest of the healthcare system will leave the NHS, social care and public health without the certainty needed to stabilise and improve services as set out by the NHS Long Term Plan.’’

This is why events such as the Dementia, Care and Nursing Home Expo and the new Home Care Expo exist: to serve every single person working in the social care industry and inspire business growth throughout the sector, whilst creating an increasingly sustainable social care model, focused on quality.

This year the Care Quality Commission (CQC) is the Educational Partner for both events in 2020.

As the independent regulator of health and social care in England, the CQC’s role is to ensure that health and social care services provide safe, effective, compassionate and high-quality care to all.

So, at the Dementia, Care and Nursing Home Expo in 2020, we are delighted to announce that the CQC will be running an Inspector Hub; a one stop shop that provides you with an opportunity to receive one-to-one advice from CQC inspectors and registration inspectors. Stand D834 will also have best practice case studies to help you to drive improvement and copies of CQC’s latest State of Care report!
