Specialist dementia training – the importance for both residents and care staff (Alzheimer's society)

21 Mar 2024
Keynote Stage
Workforce training & development , Alzheimer's & Dementia Care

It is estimated that there are 820,000 staff working in residential and domiciliary services that provide care for people with dementia in England (Skills for care 2023), however only 45% of staff are recorded as having some form of dementia training. Having high-quality, in-depth training around dementia is important for residents to have the best quality of life, but it is also important for the workforce. If staff understand more about dementia and how to support people with the condition, they are more likely to find increased satisfaction within their role and feel valued by their employer, leading to a higher retention of staff in the sector.

In this session we will explore the importance of high-level dementia training, the impact on both residents and the workforce, and how Alzheimer’s Society can create a bespoke training package to suit you.
